From time to time the OBR has vacancies that are open to civil servants and external applicants and are advertised on the Civil Service Jobs portal. External vacancies are also advertised on the HMT Careers website.
We also hire placement students via the GES Sandwich Student Placement Scheme and apprentices via the GES Degree Apprenticeship Programme.
The OBR has a strong commitment to equality and diversity, so it’s important our employees come from the widest possible range of backgrounds, bringing us the widest possible range of perspectives and ways of thinking. The OBR is committed to equal opportunities for all staff, regardless of age, race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability or any other determinate factor. We collect and monitor diversity information to assess how we can improve, and report this information in our annual reports. In recent years the OBR has introduced a range of measures to improve diversity and inclusion, led by a more active diversity and inclusion group, including the commitment to staff diversity targets on the basis of gender and ethnic background in our 2022-23 Annual report and accounts.
The OBR is committed to ensuring that all staff can realise their potential and achieve a healthy work-life balance. We view flexible working as essential in enabling us to recruit and retain talented people, ensuring that they can enjoy a long-lasting career with us. All employees have the right to apply for flexible working and there are a range of options available, including flexitime systems, working from home, compressed hours and job sharing.
